I've been hunting on the internet for information about our new philosophy professors (Texas Tech lost five faculty over the summer and so far, the names of only two of their replacements have been made known to students who are really consistant about checking department e-mails).
So far, they include
Dr. Matt Weiner (business ethics),
Alan Hazlett (philosophy of language, probably epistemology),
Dr. Robert Bishop (he's teaching locke, but he seems to know the philosophy of science).
Weiner and Hazlett both appear to know something about Wittgenstein and Dr. Weiner also knows logic (and they're making him teach business ethics--that's a damn tragedy--probably in my opinion, though, more than his). Dr. Bishop has a mustache.
Even more interestingly, Alan Hazlett contributes to
a group weblog and Weiner not only contributes to
a group weblog, but he mantains
one of his own. That's some-kinda sign of the electronic times.
We still don't know whose teaching epistemology, though (to my chagrin).
I'm still
taking requests for letters, as well.
