A series of letters

Dear Brain,
What is your trauma?!? It is 12:30am, we have to get up around 8am this morning and you know how cranky we get with less than 8 hours of sleep. I know you're wanting sleep too because you keep sending me the sleepy signals for yawning. So why are we wide awake right now? I am very unhappy.
No love,
Kim's Body

Dear David Emerson,
You sir, are a whore. A cabinet post whore. I call you a whore because I'm told we live in a fair society with equal rights for all. And since some called Belinda Stronach a whore for crossing the floor, I think it's only fair to address you in the same vein. Especially because you're much worse. I have no problem with MPs crossing the floor if they feel the party is no longer something they can support and/or if it is over something their constituents may have real problems with. Like, oh say, hypothetically taking down the government because a creepy man covets a shiny house. But back to you. I seriously doubt that in the TWO WEEKS since you ran in a federal campaign as a Liberal, any of these pressing types of issues have come up. I've been following the news and I haven't seen anything. Except for the fact that your party lost. I bet that upset your accountant industry lobbyists "constituents". So you switched sides for a cabinet posting.
Hatefully yours,
Logic

Dear ambition,
Thank you for showing up last Thursday. You were a real asset to actually getting things done so that Kim is only horribly behind and not horrendously behind. It shows real improvement. It even made her look smart in front of people once or twice. Please stay around for, oh say, three more years please. Do NOT leave me!
Hearts and kisses,
Kim's Research

PS. Could you maybe stick around more on weekends too please. She has a PhD comp to do this summer and she must start studying soon.

Dear supervisor (aka Steven),
Thanks for deciding to send me to Seattle even though my abstract got rejected. I really appreciate getting to travel and such. Even if it is Seattle. I'll try to learn lots I swear!
Your Devoted student,
Kim

PS. I'm sure that your decision had everything with you wanting me to learn as much as possible and to be exposed to multitudes of other MR research and not the really cheap flight to Seattle that you had me order the MINUTE after you told me you still thought I should go because the seat sale was ending right away so I should OMG book now. I'm sure it's because you think I'm intelligent and have a lot to offer yep.

PPS. When planning long project arcs involving the development of fantastic new sequences, perhaps you should factor in that your grad student knows almost nothing about programming. Maybe just pad the time lines a little. Just a wee bit.

My brain would not let me sleep until I posted these. I don't know why it HATES ME! Need sleep before I become zombified (any further that is). I need to get a life. Won't someone do something fun with me? Vern, since you're graduating soon (cheers incidentally!) you should come here and we will cram for my comp dance the summer away. :)

And for some reason when I try to update this it keeps opening up rich text mode and screwing up my formatting. Bad LJ! I've been working on this post for a while now.
