I found a PI to fund my next rotation! His research is on pancreatic cancer, and he just moved here from University of Michigan in August (as did almost his entire lab). He's willing to fund me (the major thorn) and his research is really exciting. Basically, the active ingredient in Nasacort nasal spray, used with the "gold standard" chemo for pancreatic cancer, produces smaller tumors. So they're trying to see if similar chemicals have the same effect. There's another project looking at a immune system trigger that could be targeted. I think (if the rotation goes really well) that I will choose this lab.
Now the major issue is asking to be released from my contract and get the paperwork in to MD Anderson to make the move official. Argh. And the grad school being shut down tomorrow and finals, it won't be happening until next week.
