This is long, but I don't really care.
Friday was a good day. After a lot of frustration and hating the fact I can’t drive, Mom came through for me and said she’d come get me so I could come home for the fourth. Surprisingly, Dad rode over here with her, and we left my house around 5:30 or 6:00 heading west.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Dad say that Captain Dee’s wasn’t good, but he didn’t seem that enthused with his supper Friday night. That was a common theme this weekend-Dad not eating much at all. I’m truly worried about him-it’s not like Daddy not to eat-especially when it’s fish, shrimp, and ice cream. He even turned down Mom’s pancakes.
Mom and Dad are also having air conditioner problems at home, but despite the heat, it felt so good to crawl in to the bed I used to sleep in for the past 3 or so years, before moving to Dothan last year. I don’t know what it is about that bed, in my brother’s old room, but it sleeps so good! I got up, took care of the dog Sat. morning, and then went to lay back down. While I didn’t sleep much of the extra four hours I spent in bed, it was still very relaxing!
Marie decided to go to Brewton on Saturday afternoon, and originally, I was going to go to Grandma’s and hang out. The only problem with that plan was that I didn’t consult with Grandma first! OOPS. Well, so I ended up going with Mom and Marie to Brewton.
Mom bought some green apples for me, and all the stuff to make blackberry Ice Cream. Marie wanted to get help from Grandma learning to make Grandma’s banana pudding, so they bought the stuff for that, too.
Sat. night, Dad grilled steaks. After that, he and I watched some weird movie on TV. It was kind of dumb-but it was something to do. It impressed me so much, I probably wouldn’t recognize it if I saw it again.
Sunday was great! The service Sun. morning was nice, but what really made it cool was the fact I got to see Charlie and Alex. I don’t think I really comprehended how much I missed working with them until I heard, “Miss Sarah, Miss Sarah!”
Mr. Tom and Mrs. Lynn weren’t there, so Marie and I joined the youth for Sunday School. That was nice, too. Their lesson was on doing the right thing even when it goes against what seems right, and even when you feel like God may have forgotten you. Exodus Chapter 2 is a good example of this.
We had left overs for Lunch, and that was fun, kind of. I didn’t want Spaghetti, so I took some leftover steak and mixed it with the spaghetti noodles. Just when you thought I couldn’t get any stranger, right?
Sunday afternoon, Dad tried watching another movie. This one really didn’t hold my interest at all. It was about some woman who killed men in the bedroom, or something-just really weird. I spent a little time hanging with Mom, but we didn’t do anything really.
We headed back to Evergreen for church, and I went to the Children’s Discipleship class. It was so cool to spend a little time with the children again. Kaylee was really excited to see me, and said she got my letter, so that was nice. They all came and gave me hugs, and that felt good, too. Mrs. Beverly did a really great job with the lesson, on disagreeing and how to handle disagreements.
Brother Joey had the service Sunday night because the pastor’s mother wasn’t doing well, and he had gone to be with his family. Brother Joey pointed out a few things from Hebrews Chapter 11, and that was neat because of the way he tied it to the Lord’s Supper. After that, it was watermelon and ice cream social.
I went down to talk to Mrs. Judy after church. I knew I had missed her piano playing, but I didn’t realize how much. We talked about dogs some, and generally caught up there. Fifteen minutes later, I made it to the gym for the social. I sat down near Becky and Kevin, thinking I would catch up with her. That didn’t happen. I was halfway through some potato chips and speaking to the rest of the people at the table when I heard a somewhat familiar voice call me by the double name. I spoke, and a conversation struck up at which point I realized it was Shannon! We talked for the longest time! He said he actually came to Dothan for the business about once a month. I told him to come by and see me sometime. I don’t know if it will ever happen, but it would be nice. It also sounds like Beverly and the girls are doing well, too.
After Shannon left, Mrs. Judith came over. I was in the process of telling her about church activities when Mrs. Martha came over. Of course, that meant talking about Orchestra, and such, and Mrs. Judith left during that conversation, so I didn’t get to talk to her that much.
As I was leaving, I had to wait for April and Kaylee to give me hugs one more time. That was so much fun!
Mrs. Pat and Mr. Joe also gave me a lot of hugs on Sunday. I’m kind of used to that from Mr. Joe. He’s the only guy that can call me “Meangirl” and “Sweety” in the same sentence without me being offended by it. The sad thing, as I was telling Mom, I don’t remember how the “Mean” part of it started.
On Monday, we went through some of my boxes. I found a box of games, but somehow in the shuffle yesterday, they didn’t make it in the van to come back here. I’m really annoyed with myself, though, because my CD collection was not in the boxes like I thought it was. I’m at a real loss as to where those cd’s are! There were so many good ones there, too! I really hope they turn up, especially since there were some AVB, Point of Grace, and Steven Curtis Chapman CD’s in the mix! Along with that, my Son Power tape and Veggie Videos are probably in the same box. I know, silly things, and all but the Son Power tape are probably replaceable if not found. It just bugs me that we can’t seem to locate them.
Since Monday was Mom and Dad’s anniversary, Dad took all of us to Evergreen to Helisco’s to eat. I don’t know if I’m spelling that right or not-but it’s a Mexican restaurant. I tried a new thing, which I won’t even attempt to spell. It was fried, with a Corn shell and shredded steak on the inside. Actually very tasty, considering I really don’t like Mexican. After that, we went to watch the fireworks, but we didn’t get out of the Van, so it was pretty lame to me. Marie’s description was “Merry Christmas” when they shot off a red and green combination, but that was pretty much it. I do have to wonder, though, if we had been in the open if I could really have seen much of it.
We made it to the pool on Tuesday just before noon, and it wasn’t long after we got there that Glenn, Elizabeth, and the twins came. Oh, the boys are growing! They are all over everything, and they are definitely little explorers. I’m happy that they didn’t trip over the step at the pool going to the patio of sorts at the Bath House. It trips just about everybody else. After lunch, we took the boys inside for a little play time before they were put down for naps. They very much wanted to play in cabinets and go through drawers. At one point, Glen
Got on to Jackson kind of strong, and Alexander acted like he was the one hurt by the experience. They climb on the couch now, too, and Glenn says that they have learned to double team and knock down the baby gate that isn’t attached to the wall
When the boys were put down for a nap, I went back out to join the rest of the family at the pool. I don’t really feel like I got any sun, but I wouldn’t trade the time spent with the boys for a tan…it’s not worth it. After a little while, Glenn and Elizabeth brought the boys back outside, and we all played in the water. Elizabeth had gotten the boys some floats, and they had a great time splashing and being pulled around the pool.
Mom and I left the pool so she could go home and pack. She spent the night here so she wouldn’t have to drive home so late last night. We left about 6:00 P.M. On the way to my house, we stopped by Wendy’s and got something to eat. I tried their new Crispy Chicken Sandwich, because it was only $.99, and it was pretty good. I think it would have been a little better with a tomato, but it at least had sauce and lettuce, which is more than I can say about the sandwich Vicki and I got from McDonalds that time.
My computer is acting funny and not speaking, so that’s why I’m not listening to music right now. I’ll post this and hopefully have good news to write after Orchestra tonight.
Dad goes back to the Doctor tomorrow, so I’ll try to update that, too. I am just hoping they can figure out what’s wrong with him. The doctor said his lungs were clear, but Dad isn’t keeping much food down at all. I’m really worried about him! I had been praying that God would grant me the request to let me have a child before Grandma died, and now, I’ve amended that to be that Dad gets to give me away at my wedding. Of course, since I’m not seeing anybody right now, either of those requests is a bit trivial, however, I’m claiming the verses that say “Ask and it will be given…” I know that God will grant the desires of our hearts when we least expect it and when we are serving Him.
I’m also planning to listen to the sermons from Sunday that I missed.
