I wish they were all like 3rd period!
My 3rd period class surprised me with a birthday party today. We
had these really wonderful chocolate cookies, a cake (in a hart shape),
candles, soft drinks, chips, dip, and a lot of fun. (we even talked about
taste buds). I really appreciated the effort those students put into
surprising me.
They had asked me earlier in the month about a party--and since we
were studying the nervous system, I didn't see a reason to say "no".
However, we can't go have a party every birthday, so I decided to challenge
them. I told them they'd have to write a lesson plan were they gave reasons
that related to the course of study as to why we should have a party. They
went above my head and asked the Principal if they could surprise me.
**Guess I've taught them at least how to get out of work**
It's been a fun day, and it's so refreshing to see all the facebook
messages, too! :-)
