Yesterday, Dad came to pick me up to go to Grandma's so I could see Chris,
Jenni, Cal, and Michael. Glenn, Elizabeth, and the twins came from Auburn,
too, so it was a great day. I think Oasis got a little overwhelmed with
seeing so many willing petting hands, but the hands were all good, and kept
to themselves...although I know they wanted to touch the Kitty.
Michael was adorable, and it's hard to believe that he's going to be 4 this
Christmas. He was a little unsure of talking to me at first, but after a
little while, he opened up. I gave him a job at lunch, and he took it so
seriously. He had to keep Grandma sitting at the table--and although
Grandma will deny it, I think she enjoyed his attention. He kept asking her
to sit with him. It was so adorable.
Cal is very cute. He's the smallest, and youngest of the boys. He
didn't talk much, but it was obvious that he loves his Daddy, and that was
so neat to see. Chris seemed to have a ball helping Cal jump into the water
at the pool. Michael kept people entertained, and the twins helped.
I got some great snapshots of the boys, and I also got a picture of Michael
reading a book to me. I couldn't tell you what the story was, but it was a
nice moment.
Katie and I got a chance to talk before everybody got there. I was
talking to her about the schedule when I was at Seeing Eye, and of course, I
had to tell her about the air hockey game. She was laughing pretty hard at
me, and it was nice--it was kind of like when she was a really little girl,
and she and I were really close.
Cory loved Oasis. I'm going to have to watch her at family
gatherings, though. I think my whole family is on some sort of campaign to
win her affections. They all talked about how pretty she is. Karla was the
only one who didn't really go nuts over her. Even Uncle Stanley said she
was pretty--and he generally doesn't make a lot of comments on my dogs.
Grandma liked her New York spoon, but she teased me saying the way I
keep going places, I'll have given her a whole rack of spoons.
The twins seemed to like their German Shepherds, too. Mom said when
they left, they had them in their arms, snuggling with them.
Church was nice this morning. I decided Oasis was ready for the
choir plunge. She did beautifully, although I heeled her into and out of
the choir loft. I'm going to try to work tonight on patterning her to go to
the second row of the choir loft, so that I can just heel her from that
point. It felt good to be back with my Alto friends, and I think in a
couple of months, I can actually leave her and try to do fellowship without
worrying about her too much.
It was a little loud when we were in the old sanctuary practicing,
but I was able to calm her without anything happening.
After church, and Brother Ronnie's excellent sermon on kindness,
Rachel, Will, Anna, and I went out to eat. It was a lot of fun, and we had
a great time. We teased Anna most of the time...but she was a great sport.
Will has been telling me about Shane and Shane, a Christian group.
I'm hoping he's going to let me borrow the CD. Rachel says they are
Blue-grass-like, but Will says they aren't. After that discussion, I really
want to hear them.
Now, I'm just trying to stay awake until time to get ready for choir
practice. I don't know why I'm so sleepy! I shouldn't be this tired!
