This week, I have been teaching my kids how to look at people and trying seeing the best in them. Get to know the individual before you make judgements. Realize that all humans are in fact human, regardless of (in our examples in class) skin tone...
Basically, I am taking the opportunity to teach how discrimination is still alive, and that they are the ones that can make the difference. Because they are still young enough to realize these facts and make a change. They are not the ones as set into a path of hatred or discrimination.
As one of them pointed out in a discussion, with amazing examples I mind you...humans are taught to hate. It is not an intrinsic behavior.
I write this because this world is still full of hate...as evident by people that do not even know others posting stuff in a slanderous way (see the comments) in my last section. I get this because he attacks one of my friends (who he also does not know), and I give my interpretations of what I have learned through my research and discussions (most of it done by heterosexuals).
I know I can be an ass, but I get subtle reminders that I am in fact a good person...teaching the very basic idea of every faith...treat others as you would wish to be treated, if not better, and leave the judgements to the "higher powers". And if I am to burn in the hell for my choices in life, I do not regret living my life in the manner I have...
