i dont think it's neccissarily the pain itself, but more (depending on the person i suppose i can only speak from personal experience) that the those kinds of situations are exatly what the person has come to expect, it's what they've always known. and there is simply one factor; that you cannot change who you fall in love with. you can know perfectly well that its going to screw you over and still do the exact same thing every time. you can save yourself to a certain extent by noticing trends, surely, but then all you have is being lonely. its a matter of would you rather be in excruciating pain or alone. *shrug*

Hm, I guess what I was trying to express was that those items that we find most painful in our lives tend to make us the most introspective about ourselves.
I.e. we learn from our mistakes. We at least make the attempt to grow from those things that happen to us. Crap like that. :)

I absolutly agree with you, Drew. I think that those who have gone through true pain, had that moment of realization are better people... it does make you grow and makes you more able to deal with the crap life sometimes throws at you. I think personally that it also makes you a more sensative person... it helps you become more compassionate towards others who are going through that pain or have gone through it.

By the way, sorry for missing your call last night. I will call you back probably today, but if I don't get the chance (as Kimberly is flying out to Dallas today) I will certainly call by Saturday. Thanks for the call, I know it was difficult. ^_~ The first step is always the hardest!!
