Synopsis: Instead of talking like a regular person in the real world and assuming that loads of Christmas cards equals busloads of friends, April is assigned a glurgey line that would kill a diabetic on contact.

Summary: This is the sort of fat weekly that leads to fawning praise from people

It is a fat weekly that would be taped to a fridge like a normal one that said the same thing. That's because the fan base would still praise Lynn for her lovely column where The Little Girl says the wise beyond her years thing (and totally not treacly idiocy designed to appeal to rubes) to The Mother.

Yes, this comic strip was definitely aimed at refrigerator clipping crowd.

Shmaltz is right. A real little girl would say "we got a lot of friends." April has to say something out of a crappy Hallmark movie (in other words, a Hallmark movie) to provide the punchline, but it's not something that would ever come out of the mouth of an actual human child. In fact, very few people of any age would say something so trite and twee out loud because, come on, this is too much sugar intake for anyone to take in one dose

Not only is it twee nonsense predicated on the fatuous notion of Child As Brain-Dead Dispenser Of Treacle, it's nonsense that's not consistent with the established premises of "Christmas Card As Torture Device":

also, "phone" as a verb is very anachronistic, especially for a kid to be using it.
