Another strip featuring a child expressing the thoughts of an Old Man who wants to be thought of as Wise. That makes pretty much all of them, doesn't it?
Yes, it does. Funny. These are probably the same people who simper that a gift card is 'impersonal' not because they don't actually know what the recipient wants but because they can't crow about what they got.
And he doesn't actually know how much she spent anyway. A collectible T-shirt like that isn't gonna cost the same as something she could get at Wal-Mart but you can't tell a moron like him that....because MOMMY buys all his clothes and he thus has no idea what anything costs.
Supposedly it's night time and it looks that way and yet it's early enough for Mike to pick up a prescription, so just how late is it? No later than pharmacy hours and not obviously not too late to be going to Rhetta's house without her parents complaining. What is the danger of going out?
1. The snow, duh.
2. The fear that the wisdom tooth pain will be too much for Michael and he will pass out while driving on the road.
3. Elly can smell Weed's weed on Mike.
4. Elly knows that Rhetta has been cheating on him and she does not want to deal with the trauma that will occur afterwards, i.e., Mike's terrible poetry writing.
5. Elly fears that Mike will find out that Rhetta is Jewish and does not celebrate Christmas and it will shake him to the core that anyone could have beliefs different from that of a Patterson.
6. Elly doesn't like the idea of not having him around when he comes to visit. We see this in a few years when she exposes her tonsils to risk of sunburn because she's not running a hotel, ELIZABETH.
What I have been learning now that my kids have finally left my house is that the parents have the right to inflict themselves on their children when they want. While Elly may be complaining, she and John never visited Elizabeth at school at Nipissing until her graduation and only Elly made the trip to Mtigwaki. I have found that when my kids come to visit me, they also have other friends they want to visit that they have not seen in awhile. But when I go to visit them, we are number one in their book (aside from work).
As for Elly, she may not have realized the screaming woman in the yard is the reason that her kids may have wanted to spend time elsewhere. It does help if you are pleasant to be around.
I'm not certain that either idiot understood that they were allowed to visit their kids at university. This is because they're not smart enough to realize that while their parents couldn't afford to take the time off, they easily could.
Lynn lived in the same area where Nipissing was, so we have another indication of how insulated she was. When Lynn was going to the Vancouver School of Art, she lived at home, so there was no reason for her parents to visit.
As we have seen in the past, the only thing that spurred Lynn on to research and investigate was severe criticism from her readers. For all I know, it was such criticism that led Lynn to have Elly visit Mtigwaki.

all he can do in strip #3 is repeat himself because he's a petty minded ass and the comparison of present prices is all he cares about now.
