We put our kids out in their ski pants if they were playing in the snow or any other activity where they were likely to be sitting in the snow. However, in my youth, my parents just let me sit in the snow and it would freeze up and become kind of like a little ice layer on the pants. They would be sopping wet the moment I stepped into the heat though and they had be taken right off. With ski pants, the kids were basically dry underneath.
However, I seriously doubt Elizabeth plans to be sitting in the snow with that skirt on.
There are many comic strips she where the small children are covering their dress clothes in mud. Lynn may not have realized that 15-year-old Elizabeth is well past that age.
Aside from herself, I can think of the only five people she has fooled.....well, four since John had an unfortunate encounter with a fiberglass rooster head.
And here's the strip itself:

I'd bet money that Elly still thinks of her as the first grader who would.

we had snow suits. They were clumsy and hard to get in and out of but you could slide down hills on your stomach with them. Are they still a thing?

Elly won't pay any attention to kids who actually want attention, but she'll stare at them out the window and be cold on their behalf. Uh huh.
