The other annoying thing is that Elly complains about Liz dressing like a hobo for no reason. It's not as if hysterical wailing about her throwing her childhood in the trash when she doesn't want to be left out
or watching Mommy run around in circles screaming about Mike settling down before he had a chance to live because Martha is a girly-girl
mean anything! It isn't as if children listen to her and draw conclusions of what she expects of them, is it?
Ha! That would be very appropriate for the woman who had nothing but "oops" babies.
It was a little disturbing when Michael married a pharmacist who seemed to be no more intelligent about the matter than Elly was. At least with Martha and Rhetta there was a sense that they knew enough about birth control not to get pregnant, which put them at a level above Elly and Deanna in knowledge. Elizabeth ended up being with a lot of guys before she got married, so I assume that someone taught her. Maybe Martha or Rhetta? We know it wasn't Elly.
I know a pharmacist who had an oops baby. She was changing brands of pills and she and her hubby got, erm, carried away and failed to use their backup method. It does, after all, only take once. ETA For her, it only took once. Her other two were planned, and Dee's a fool.

I still think that strip should have had one more panel at the end where Elly said "What's birth control?" and Michael facepalmed.

I got stuck with a pharmacist once who couldn't even say "birth control pills" out loud and gasped in horror when I did.

And Lynn wants us to sympathize with her for being one.
