"I accept your apology, but you'll still suffer all of the consequences." If I were Gordon, I would have told Elly where she could stick her "acceptance" if the consequences meant I was going to be beaten up. Who cares if you accept the apology or not, Elly, if it has zero impact on your actions?
"I asked them to come sober." Will alcohol be served at the reception? Your parents have a drug addiction, Gordon. Shaming them might make you feel pious and superior, but it won't do a damn thing for your parents.
