Today's strip acts as a sort of preface to next week's arc; that's because John is left holding the garbage bag because his children fight like rats in a cage in order to avoid taking out the trash.

Panel 1: We start things off with Rage-Faced Elly dumping garbage cans into garbage bags and getting angrier by the second because of the whole 'she never did like being a housewife' trope that's the strip's premise.
Panel 2: She then asks herself how a small family like her own produces so much garbage.
Panel 3: She sort of answers her own question when she talks to Mike and tells him to take out the trash before he leaves. This strikes me as being ironic because Mike's leading export is garbage and if you take him out of the equation, Elly's trash problem is halved.
Panel 4: He also speaks garbage by trying to palm it off on Elizabeth because he claims it's her turn because he did it last time.
Panel 5: Liz claims Mike is being unfair because all he took out was a soap box.
Panel 6: Instead of doing what a normal person would do and telling Mike "Nice try" and telling him to take out the trash, Elly behaves like Elly and explodes in rage because she doesn't care who does it as long as someone does.
Panel 7: Since neither child wants to take out the garbage, they start to argue.
Panel 8: John sees that neither of them is doing anything that isn't beating the crap out of one another because they don't want to do chores for some reason that isn't never being thanked 'because no one thanks ME!!!'
Panel 9: As he takes out the garbage, he frowns as he thought-bubbles about how nice it is to be somebody.
Summary: As I said, we're in for a solid week of Mike not being the grinning chore droid these two zombified apes want. Also, we're in for a week of the all stick and no carrot bullcrap Elly and John dispense. If they want children to help out, they shouldn't be all ungrateful and pissy when they do help out.
