The one where we finally learn where John picked up the bad habit of spouting nonsense about counting on your fingers from.

Synopsis: Instead of medical attention, April gets a hug and a soppy load of balderdash about stars.

Summary: Ever wonder why John never met a statement that only seems profound if you're an idiot that he didn't like? We now ( Read more... )

It's odd how Lynn's wonky artwork distracts us from an actual concern: did Carrie and Elly give April more medical attention than what was on tap in the B movie Lynn stole this story from?

It almost seems like we are seeing a secondary storyline where Carrie does not actually bond with her grandkids during the time she had them by herself, but had to wait until the family dog was dead to do it.

Which is deeply weird and says something about how Lynn thought Ruth should have behaved.

In retrospect, it seems as if we have an enforced Carrie-sized plot hole. Know who she didn't ask if she could go out? Know who a kid would ask in real life? The third adult in the room, that's who! Lynn's bizarre "this person can only speak to X, Y but not Z" playground clique bullshit blinded her to the possibility that John and Elly were not the only voices that could boom in a child's ear. There is precedent: the last time Will and Carrie were there, they did more parenting in two weeks than John and Elly contrived to do in the preceding two years.

1. Not only can you be replaced, but your replacement would be all but guaranteed to be an upgrade.

2. You aren't being replaced; the people in this strip aren't doing things you normally do. They are doing things you neglect to do.

2. If you truly think you can be replaced, maybe do something about it. I mean, rather than stare blankly and thought-bubble about it.

1) And deep down, she knows it.

2) She's worried about being replaced with someone who does those things.

3) Staring blankly is all she can do.

There used to be a PSA up here with people spouting excuses only to have the announcer call shenanigans on it. I don't know if it's on YouTube though.
