The one where we pivot to Liz being a moody jerk to April because she blames her for her idiot mother's habit of seeing her as a free babysitter and not as a child.

Panel 1: History repeats itself when we see Liz angrily stomping on a toy because she's sick of it all. She's sick of hearing about the ( Read more... )

Panel 1; Poos Super Teddy.

Panel 2: Lynn cannot draw someone walking up stairs and even by her standards, this drawing is pretty bad.

What happened to Farley after Panel 3? My guess is Elizabeth pushed him down the stairs so he could be down near the abused teddy bear.

After the first 3 panels of complaints and abuse, when Elizabeth talks about how she can't wait for the baby to get there, I am reading a little malice into that expectation.

And that is pretty much exactly what happened. Elizabeth did have her moments of physical violence with April just as Michael had with her.

Except April was able to get back at Liz a few times, because she wasn't a doormat.

Love seeing Elly, who got married in college and has been a SAHM with a husband who provides every penny she has to her name, lecturing Liz about Independence and financial stability. Eventually Liz will marry a guy who brings home the paycheck and provides the house, and chat over coffee with her sister in law, who gave up her career to be a SAHM and depend on a guy to bring home the paycheck and provide the house.

And both of them will make pious, hypocritical noise about the value of a dollar. History might not repeat but man oh man, does it ever rhyme.

Misdirected blame is what the Pattersons do. Blaming a child for Elly's idiocy is only part of the bigger pattern ( ... )

Which means that it's next to impossible to take a Patterson at his or her word when they talk about the world around them. Words and meaning part company because of their refusal to admit that they were wrong and should apologize.

And once again, Lynn does not comment on today's strip. This is a disappointment because it's a perfect opportunity for a Little Lindy Show....
