i just finished "the bell jar," which was semi-interesting. if you read it without knowing anything about it, you probably won't be disappointed. it's supposedly a classic. give it a try. =)

it was ok...it made me feel all literary/depressed for awhile

same here. everybody builds it up to be this incredible character transformation. i didn't think so... it's a literal jump from her new york self to her mental hospital self. okay, but not great. have you read "one flew over the cuckoo's nest?"
