WE'RE OFF TO THE MCG...
Yup, I am in FULL ON GRAND FINAL MODE! Mum has the tix and is arriving Sat morning and we are planning on going to be very late Sat night.
that being said, if they don't win, it's all good. I have a great respect for Geelong and am so proud of my club and the team for getting to the GF when everyone wrote them off before the season even started! It's a super effort regardless of the weekend and the future looks very bright.
In other news
Last Friday I was lucky enough to be present at the photo shoot for Publicity shots for Tartuffe (this is a scoop btw) with Marcus Graham and Barry Otto. Both of whom are DELIGHTFUL men. Marcus was not at all starlike. He was kind and energetic and talkative and BLOODY GORGEOUS. Barry is very much as you'd imagine, an absolute clown. He spent about half an hour regaling me with stories of Darcy, Miranda Otto's 2 year old daughter, who is currently living in NYC. He's obviously wrapped right round that little girl's finger!
The shoot itself went well and we got the money shot - Marcus in white underwear and Barry in a Marie Antoinette style dress mimicking the Pieta (the painting Logan and Veronica pay homage to twice in VM). We underwent various incarnations of the shot - wig, no wig, sunglasses, no sunglasses - and I think we've got some great results... Check out
www.malthousetheatre.com.au after Nov 11 for results! We also did the cover shot for the brochure (which is BEAUTIFUL) and a shot of Michael for the inside cover and the Shot for a small show in the Tower - The China Incident. Was great fun!
Weekend in Adelaide was WONDERFUL! Obviously the footy was fantastic, - went back to the club after the game and the atmosphere was electric. It's so nice to have a whole room full of people all buzzing and excited about the same thing. Can't believe there were Mexican Waves at the ground before 3 quarter time!
I also had a totally lovely time with my homies (hahahhaaaha) at The Store on Sunday. So didn't want to go home, though Lilah and even Boo were of course very happy I did.
I had dinner with Essie on Sunday night and gave her a book mum and i picked up - Gluten-free cookbook with lots of vego recipes XD
Had some bad news yesterday. Some of you may know that I've been thinking about staying on here at Malty for at least another 6 months and doing my travel in 09, possibly with Del! Unfortunately I found out yesterday, having let Brad know this decision, that my position will be changing due to some other staffing changes and reshuffling of roles and duties, and I'll no longer really be suited to it. Brad said that he's confident I could DO the job, but also completely confident I wouldn't enjoy it nearly as much as something else. It's going to be less about the things i enjoy (copy, dealing with people, enews) and more about the true marketing/advertising things like budgets and branding and negotiating. So, unless something else comes up within the organisation that i'm suited for, I will be leaving the Malty at xmas. Which means I'm looking for a new job in either Melbourne or Adelaide, preferably starting in the New Year. It also means I will likely be postponing a View of Concrete yet again. More on that later. Despite everything though I'm coping quite well. As I said to Essie - it's not fucked, just frustrating and as many people have pointed out, I now have great skills and connections to find something even awesomer. Also, Brad has promised a glowing reference and to keep an eye out for appropriate positions that come his way.
Totally looking forward to the rest of this week. We have community night tonight for Kin, then opening of Cake tomorrow (it's almost sold out, so anyone in melb who wants to come - BOOK!) and then Kin official opening night on Friday and then of course GF weekend goodness, followed by markets and roast dinner with best buds and mum, a day of who knows what (might take monday off) and then seeing kin at the matinee with mum and cake in the evening on Tuesday followed by tjunabi @ Fed!
WHOOT!
Oh and I'm seeing Priscilla for free on Thursday! Sometimes my job is AWESOME
