Corduroy Pants
Recently I've been thinking about the things I find appealing, sexy, heart-warming, a turn on. I don't mean that tacky stuff that magazines, soaps and popular thought peddles but instead those moments, items, interactions that just turn your heart and head. To that end I have three stories that capture moments of pure bliss......
Having woken up beside my very good friend of the time and having spent the morning wallowing and playing in bed, rapturous in the knowledge that we had no commitments or plans for the day, we eventually rose and while I prepared breakfast, he watered the plants on our balcony. The sight of his tanned sinewy back against a backdrop of morning light and dewy green leaves was enough to make a girls heart swoon but more than that, was his absolute engrossment in the games and play of the four toddlers on the street below. As I boiled water and spread toast, he gave me a blow by blow description of the skipping and hand-clapping he was observing. My heart was full.
Last weekend I visited a family I know and we headed to the beach for the the children's 'Nipper' commitments (Surf Lifesaving for kids). With 6 kids under 15 in the family, attention is a valued commodity and I was a bit of a star attraction...particularly with the little girls. Sitting on the beach watching the older children attempt their long swim, I was suddenly accosted by a 5 and 7 year old who soon acquainted themselves with either side of my lap. Snuggling with them and listening to their whispered secrets and thoughts truly warmed the cockles.
A couple of nights ago at a party I met a young man who had the rare gift for challenging my beliefs and politics - I love a debate. We wound up discussing belief vs. atheism and given our respective gifts for argument did not reach a consensus. Upon goodbye he kissed my cheek and said 'nice to have met such a fearless and formidable opponent'. Debate is damn sexy!!!
