Chapter Five: Lighting Candles and Stuffed Luggage
The following day, I was still feeling a bit depressed. I guess everyone of is feeling the same. It’s our last day in Japan. It was short but a lot has already happened.
We spent this day together, having last minute shopping for souvenirs and stuff. Afterwards, we went to this church and lighted candles as thanksgiving for this trip and for our safe return back home.
I lighted my candle and placed it on the stand but the wind blew the flame away then at that moment another lighted candle lighted my candle. It was Yun ho.
“Hi.” He greeted me with a smile.
“Hi.” I smiled back. “You ready for your flight later?” I asked in spite of myself trying to avoid that thought.
“Yeah. After this, I’m going straight to the airport.” He said.
“I see. Have a safe trip then.” I couldn’t look at him instead I looked at the candles.
“Ei, do you know that when you light a candle on a church you have first visited, you can make a wish and it will come true.” He said trying to cheer me up.
“So I’ve heard.” I replied. My mind was not really into it.
“Know what I wished for?” he asked me.
“No, don’t tell me, it might not come true.” I interrupted him.
“Ani, they say that if you share your wish, the chance of it coming true is bigger because others may help you fulfill It.” he countered. I was just silent so he continued, “I wished for us to meet again someday within a year.”
It shook me out of my reverie. I turned to look at him.
“I wished for the same thing.” I admitted.
“It’s a deal then. We have to meet again. It does not matter where or how as long as it is within a year. Until then…” He stated then took my hand and placed a something on it. “Don’t overdose.”He said as he gave me a peck on the cheek. He gave a gentlemanly bow and left only to turn around once, waved his hand then went on his way.
I didn’t even have the chance to say anything back. He just left just like that with our promise.
I kept looking in the direction of which he disappeared not noticing that my friends have also been watching me the whole time. The three of them approached me and I know there’s no more hiding it so I told them my adventure.
“You’re so sneaky. It must have been very exciting!” Misaki remarked.
“I can’t believe you kept it from us all the while you were also teasing me. You didn’t even give me the chance to do the same to you.” Rui sulked.
“You finally got over your ex then?” Chie asked.
“Yeah, I think I’ve somehow finally did. Now he’s just a part of a wonderful memory.” I answered. I felt better already.
When we got back to the hotel, we started packing our luggage. Everyone was complaining about having so much additional luggage that cannot fit in our bags anymore except for Chie who amazingly managed to wrap up everything so fast.
I especially found it hard to pack my stuff with the bouquet of roses Yun Ho gave me. I wanted to preserve it but it’s taking much space. Chie offered to help me out but I hastily declined. If they found out about the roses, I’m sure there’s never gonna be any ending to their teasing.
With lots of effort, we’ve miraculously completed packing in time for dinner.
After dinner, it was Rui’s turn to say goodbye to her prince. I’m not sure what happened but she has puffy eyes when he brought her back. She assured us that she is fine. I can understand how she feels.
With that, we left Japan early the following morning filled with happy and sad memories and renewed hopes.
Note: Here goes Chapter 5...I just got back from a short trip to Bohol for the Christmas Holidays this morning, I had a lot of net catching up to do. First, there's HoMin and their upcoming comeback, JYJ news, WGM (last week's episode)---I got a day's LSS over YongSeo's "Banmal Song", Arashi and the other JE groups' Music Station Super Live Perfs and Talks, and Beast's Duet MNet perfs...plus I had to upload the pictures I gathered over the short trip in my FB acct...I was very busy...now here's to close my day today...a fic update!!!
