Right. A London review of sorts. Too bad I've forgotten everything already. I shall give it a try anyway, propably gonna remember everything halfway through anyway and end up with a ridiculously long entry.
tmz_cori,
mamoru22 and
kat_fanfic had already gone off to London on Tuesday, with me coming after on Wednesday. Had to take my luggage with me to University and then drive straight to the airport. Never again. Everyone asked me where I'd go to and look at me real funny 'Going off to London when there's so much to do for University? Proper crazy that one!' At the end of the day even the friggin chef at the cafeteria wished me a good time in England, I'm not even joking. Never. Again.
Anyway. At some point I arrived at Russell Square, where the others picked me up to go to the hostel. By that time they managed to already have a shitload of insiders, so they were pretty much speaking in tongue, but I couldn't care less as I'd forgone sleep the night before and was ridiculously nackered.
Also didn't see Simon, because by the time we remembered that we wanted to go, the show had already started. But I will see him in May, so I'm not all that sad about it. Even though at the time I thought: Simon is out there! In the same city as me! In the same part of the city (Camden) as me! Not even half an hour away! I had a really strong stalker-freak-longing going on. +rofl+
Rest of the time until Friday was spent spending money on all sorts of lovely things. One of which was going to the theatre to see Billy Elliot. I was sort of reluctant to go, what with not having seen the movie and stuff. But I'm so glad I got overruled because it was pretty much brilliant. That boy danced and sang his little heart out! At the end I was rather exhausted, watching people be active is tiresome. +g+
Also caught the last half of the Skins season premiere, which I hadn't planned on watching. I wasn't angry about the recasting of the show or anything. I thought about the show as being over and the new season being a new show. One I wouldn't watch, because I'm not watching any tv shows right now anyway. But I'm glad we stumbled over it, because it looked really promising. It's like a spin-off, really. So I guess I will have to watch that as well, some time.
List of the lovely things I acquired:
DVDs:
Skins season 1+2 boxset, 30 Rock season 1, Criminal Minds season 1, Taxi Driver
CDs
Vampire Weekend (self titled), The Last Shadow Puppets - Age of the understatement, The Smiths - Rank
Books:
Russell Brand - My Booky Wook, Simon Doonan - Beautiful People
Also, an "Izzy is the shizzy" shirt, an "I love nerds" shirt, a shirt with banksy's kissing coppers (which is such a fucking rip-off, I'm even a bit ashamed) and a pair of skinny jeans.
The sound you hear is my weeping bank account and my manic giggling. But they were all so cheeeaaaaap!
I admit of having bought Russell Brand's book primarily for this one single conversation that went something like this:
Russell: I wrote in my biography 'my beautiful, gay friend, Simon Amstell' and you were like "why are you saying gay? why would you say that? it's a genetic thing, you might as well say brown-eyed." So I had to change it, now it says 'my brown-eyed friend, Simon Amstell' to appease him.
Simon: It's my favourite page of the book.
Russell: What, because you're mentioned in it? In a stupid way, that doesn't make sense?
Simon: Yep.
Because I wanted to know in what context this was, fuelling my Simon/Russell need. As it turns out, he doesn't get mentioned until page 300-something, pretty much at the end of the book in the most pointless and unslashy kind of way. xD But the book is fantastic and I now know way more about Russell Brand than I ever needed to know, which I don't mind, because he's lived quite a life and I'm glad I read it. :]
And it made the idea of Russell Brand/Matt Morgan somewhat more appealing than before... +coff+
ANYWAY. Back to London. On Friday we met up with
azicrow, her sister,
morganmuffle,
ria_kukalaka and
tikiberry (I hope I haven't forgotten anyone), had lunch and then went on our way to the Convention. Where
chani_atreides joined us in the evening.
We were wearing "Je suis Loser" shirts, that
kat_fanfic had made, so people constantly came up to me and either asked if I'm a Merlin fan or french. xD
When Chris Heyerdahl came to our table at the meet&greet, he started talking to us in French and I just sat there with a big question mark over my head. xD
Sooo, the con guests:
Kavan Smith
Even better than last time! I love his filthy stories full of swearing. ♥ Especially the fucking Alissa Milano one. xD I totally digged him calling David Hewlett a whiny bitch and going "MY EYE! MY EYE!" the whole time. But they are friends, so it's all cool and you could see that.
Paul McGillion
He was sober! And not a right asshole! And not all blodgy and uarghs! I'm glad, because he was so unbearable last year. Now I can stop hating him and go back to indifference.
James Bamford
I liked him much more than I expected. I feared he'd be a bit like a brainless ape, but he is funny, nice and not at all stupid as far as I could tell. He did a stunt-performance with this girl from the audience and three stunt-men which was all sorts of cool.
Christopher Heyerdahl
How much do I love him? THIIIIIS MUCH! Pure brilliance, that one! I loved that he had the hots for Sheppard/Flanigan, because, really, who wouldn't! He propably was my favourite from all of them. ♥ He is a rather insightful person who had really interesting things to say about acting and his characters. Also loved that he had a sexy time with his "significant other" in his Nosferatu costume. Muaaaah! ♥
Chuck Campbell
Hilarious as always! This girl asked him if he had any acting gigs since Atlantis and he was like "Pfff, I'm enjoying my unemployment and went on a cruise for vacation, sorry." \o/
Neil Roberts
That disgusting bloke was so ridiculously funny, I laughed my ass off.
tmz_cori,
chani_atreides and I watched Jonathan Ross's return to tv, with Stephen Fry and Tom Cruise as guests. Fun times! Stephen actually talked about Twitter, that ole' geek. And Tom Cruise was there to promote Valkyrie which made for some good laughs. Because Tom was like "oh yes, I learned German" so Jonathan said something in German, expecting Tom to answer. But Tom just sat there and did nothing. To his defense I have to say that whatever Jonathan said was so butchered up that even I didn't understand what he said, something with Europa or something. But then Stephen said something in German and he speaks a really good German and you could clearly understand what he said and Tom still just sat there with this empty look, but sure, he learned German. xD
Jonathan Ross also showed that he hadn't learned a thing by talking to Tom Cruise about farts and asked him how he farts and just kept going on and on about flatulence, with Tom Cruise sitting there with this fake smile on his face and Stephen putting his head in his hands, saying "I'm not here". +roofl+
Good! I'm glad he hasn't changed! Fuck them and their censoring. Talk about farts on primetime BBC1 if you want to! :]
What else was there? I wrote "Petition for Merlin Con, see other side for signatures" on the backside of my autograph picture, where I had all the actors sign. I had planned on showing it to Brian, but then we were lazy and spent the evening on the hotel room and watching motherfucking Lost of all the pointless things we could have done! I don't know man...
And that's about it.
Oh, and if you want to hear about the unicorns and their presents for silly boys, you will have to ask either
tmz_cori,
kat_fanfic or
mamoru22, because I haven't got a clue what that even was about. I just sort of tagged along.
