Boycott Macy's & Kroger's this Holiday Season

Nov 25, 2013 20:19

In case you missed it, there was a boycott against Kroger's and Macy's when both stores lobbied against an equal pay for equal work bill in Texas this past summer. One would think that this summer's boycott would have made Macy's think twice about their policies regarding their employees' fair wages and working hours. Sadly, Macy's is forgoing a one hundred and fifty-five year tradition and are going to open stores on Thanksgiving Day. Yes, some workers welcome the "time and a half" pay, but others would rather be at home with their loved ones during a holiday (while others are forced to work with no choice at all). It's November and many of us are getting ready for Turkey Day and Christmas shopping. During this holiday season, please don't forget those that work for minimum wages and work in the service industry. Minimum wage workers, many of which are single mothers, are struggling to make ends meet and many are living in poverty. Take the pledge to boycott Macy's and forgo buying groceries at Kroger's this holiday season (HEB did not fight the equal pay act).

Take action to help workers and not corporations. Contact your representatives to increase the minimum wage. Donate to foundations that support workers. Show your neighbors that you care about them and not corporations this holiday season.
