2006: The year in review
Well 2006 has come and gone and I am greeted with fireworks signaling the start of 2007. While looking at the fireworks signaling the end of the year I couldn't help but look back at the year that was. 2006 was a very unpredictable year to say the least, a lot of unexpected things happened which took me by surprise, I couldn't predict what would happen next. One moment everything is good the next all hell breaks loose hahaha. The past year was also very tiring for a variety of reasons but well I made it through the year in one piece so its all good. The year had its share of ups and downs, positives and negatives, but I had more of one and just to give you an idea after remembering all that happened during the past year I couldn't help but smile dearly like a fool which prompted my parents to ask why was I smiling at nothing hahaha. I just said to them "may naalala lang ako".
The year was a positive one although as I said it had its negative moments. The negatives ranged from academics to friends to my personal life and everything in between. I went through a lot from countless dramas, fights, backstabbing, akward moments, and other events that didn't bode well with me. All these events unmercifully brought me to my knees well since this was the first time that I experienced such a barrage of problems. It was like a tidal wave that caught me unprepared. I was brutally thrusted into the real world to say the least. I had a very positive view of the world and after all that well I still have that positive view but I now know and understand that underneath all the flowers and butterflies is the darkness of the world. This was also the year when I spammed anger hahahaha. The number of times that I got angry this year totally outnumbered the times that I got really angry in my entire life hahahaha. It was really the first time when I outwardly showed my anger and displeasure towards something haha.
I suffered a lot but hell I'm still here aren't I? I remember the Dwayne Wade commercial where the slogan was "FALL DOWN 7 TIMES, GET UP 8" hahaha that was basically my mindset during the dark times. I would be damned if I let all the shit keep me down, I refused to stay down, I was stubborn hahaha and anyway I knew that a time will come when I would stop falling down, the premise of everything getting fixed eventually kept me going. This was not an individual effort however as I got plenty of support from key people haha. I say thank you to all that supported me I really appreciate the concern and help that you all provided. Quoting from Frodo in the Two Towers movie, "Frodo wouldn't have gotten far without Sam", I wouldn't have gotten far as well without my friends and especially a key person who accompanied me through all the problems. Once again say thank you haha. Well tapos narin lahat kaya ok na ang lahat hahaha
Now that we have that out of the way I want to concentrate on all the positives that made the year such a great year. These positives absolutely beat out the negatives so my year was good in the end. I have read and watched a lot of basketball articles and videos like the Top 10 moments of 2006, the top ten dunks, etc. So I want to write my happy moments in the same way. I now present my Top 10 Moments, happy events, etc. of the year. BTW sorry na indi ko macut ung entry ko shit kasi internet ko hahahaha iiklian ko nalang ung iba para di masyado mahaba
10. The NBA season: This may not seem like a moment to be happy about but for me it is. I am a very big basketball fan so the NBA is a big thing for me. First I was very happy that the Miami Heat won the championship because for one I like their two superstars Shaq and Wade. I like Pat Riley as well. Ever since the day Shaq arrived in Miami I wanted them to be the champs because Shaq is one of my all time favorite players. I was really disappointed when they lost the year before to the Pistons because I felt that they should have won that if Wade did not get injured. During this year many of my friends didn’t like them to be the champions and there were lots of times that they seemed to be on the verge of losing like in the NBA finals but I still believed that they could do it and they did eventually proving the doubters wrong hahaha. After a few months the NBA season started again and with that FNBA (fantasy NBA) started again. This is one of my great passions hahaha passionate ako sa stats eh ganun talaga hahaha. Since the NBA started again I can watch NBA games on tv again, buti nalang kasi yun lang halos pinapanood ko hahaha thank god for basketball tv hahaha
9. Great class experiences: Ito ung mga klase na sobrang saya at nakakatawa tapos marami ka pang matutunan like Histo 165 with Ambeth and Theo 131 with Father Mananzan haha. Sobrang nakakatawa tong mga prof na ito haha madalas din sila magkalat kaya nakakatawa. Ang galing ni Ambeth ang dami niyang alam at nagawa niyang mabago ang aking paningin sa mga bagay bagay tulad ng paningin ko kay Rizal, Bonifacio, etc. Ibang klaseng prof talaga siya, san ka ba nakakita ng prof na may class rule na cancel the highest long test and paper?? Hahahahaha. Si Father Mananzan naman marami siyang naturo sa aking info kung kelan nagiging invalid ung marriage and grounds for annulment pero ang di ko makalimutan ay ung mga snap lines niya sa klase and reaction niya pagkatapos. Example ng great lines niya ay “pag may crush ka or girl friend ang SAARAAP mag masturbate” snap siya ok?? Pari talaga hahahahaha. Pero ang best quality nila pareho ay mataas sila magbigay ng grades hahaha.
8. Movies: Ito rin ang first time na nanood ako ng maraming movies sa movie house with friends. I enjoyed watching the movies with friends kahit shitty ung movie like THE MARINE and MY FIRST WEDDING kasi matatawa ka kasi shishit niyo lang ung movie kaya kahit papaano matutuwa ka hahahahaha
7. New videogames that were fun to play: Well dota wasn’t really new but this was the year when I started to play really competitively. Games on the Ps2 like metal gear solid 3, final fantasy 12 really gave me a good experience when I played them. Why can’t developers make more games like those where everything in the game is top notch from the graphics, production values, characters, story everything. Metal Gear Solid 3 in particular, its story was really something else, I wonder why movie makers keep trying to make movies based on shitty games rather than great games such as these.
6. Grades: This year I got the highest grades that I got in the Ateneo. Enough said hahaha
5. Inumans: This was the year when I really had numerous drinking sessions with people. Every session had a different feel to it because the people I get to drink with change also. I had many memorable inumans and I got to bond with people well during these sessions. Masaya rin kasi nakakatawa makita magkalat mga tao pag nalalasing sila. I have witnessed lots of kalat and snap moments of others and I have my own as well tulad nung nakahiga lang ako sa kalye kasi di ko kayang tumayo at nagkwentuhan nalang kami nila psan sa kalye hahahaha
4. The run of the Pisay ravens: This was a memorable part of the year. In the previous IAC tournament we had a great run going undefeated but finally falling in the semis. This year we would like it to be different, we want to win the championship and we are striving hard to achieve that goal. Sa first tournament purely stats man ako hahahaha at least ngayon nakalaro na ako at nakascore narin ako for the first time in a real game hahahaha.
3. Dota and the rise and fall of 129 SC: Ito ang first time na naging seryoso talaga ako sa dota at dahil dun I became part of a team called 129 SC. The original SC consisted of me, ace, karlo, mike and finally mr VIN JOO who we miss dearly hahaha. Then as time passed more people became part of SC namely emer and meg. 129 SC had a successful run during its time, we were on the verge of the finals in the wcg qualifier, we got third place in some tourneys and then we became CHAMPS OF PAMPANGA hahahahaha. Now that I have quit dota and 129 SC has been disbanded, I still have a special place for 129 SC, its members and the times we spent together haha
2. The Railings Outing and Christmas Party: Any time spent with these guys always makes me happy but two special events come to mind this year. Sobrang saya nung second railings outing hahaha sayang lang na di kami kompleto. Ang dami naming ginawa sa outing at ang daming memorable rin nangyari from the food that chef basilio and his minions cooked, to the bball tournament na naglaro talaga ako hahaha ako kasi ung cameraman, sa swimming assault natin na muntik pa mawala salamin ko kasi I had the bright idea of taking the slide with my glasses on, sa nba 2k7 ataks namin, sa mga games na nilaro natin indoors like pictionary and kung anu ano pa, ung trip papunta at pabalik hahaha tae sumuka pa ako sa mcdo bago tayo umalis pati ung halfway dahil kaka inuman ko lang the night before, sa panonood ng PORNO nung outing tae kasi si Kevin daming porno sa laptop amf hahaha tae asan na ung sexy gladiator na vcd nawala na yun hahaha, sa pagtingin natin sa pics ng previous outing tapos zinozoom in pa natin para makita natin ung mga purely ok ung itsura hahaha at lahat pa ng ibang ginawa sa outing. Sobrang saya talaga. Sa xmas party naman special din to kasi xmas party nga once a year lang to pati dahil nakapa OK and unique ng ating party. Nakita namin sa party na ito na ang true essence of Christmas ay SAPAKAN hahahaha tae xmas party with boxing ok? Natalo ako kay basilio sa boxing match ko pero ok naman it was a great fight lumaban ako valiantly pero di ko talaga nakaya hahaha. I hope that we have more experiences like this ok?
1. New people/friends, experiences and friends who were not close to me before but became close to me during the year: Haha ito ang first year ko sa Ateneo na marami akong nakilalang ibang tao hahaha took me 3 years but at least marami na akong kilala diba? Nakilala ko tong mga taong to through a lot of ways, some from friends, others nakilala lang out of nowhere hahaha, others dahil parati silang nasa tambayan ko haha, etc. Some of these fine people have become close friends of mine and I am thankful that I got to know these people. These people showed and taught me a lot and gave me a lot of happy times that I won’t soon forget. The happy times that I spent with these people are irreplaceable to say the least hahaha. The same goes for my old friends haha. Now there were a number of people that I knew before but didn’t really have a chance to get to know them and talk to them and this year I got that chance because of similar problems, experiences or simply because we were able to communicate more. Some of these persons also acted as helping hands during my hard times just by listening to me talk about my problems. That really means a lot to me so I thank them for that. The last part is the number of firsts or new experiences that I had during the year. I had quite a number of them and not all of them were good but regardless of that I am happy that I got to experience them. The bad experiences taught me a lot and have made me stronger in a sense that I can now cope with experiences such as those and the good ones also taught me a lot and made me happy. The good experiences are the ones that really come to mind when I talk about firsts because I really enjoyed them and also played a part in who I am today. I hope that I have more firsts this year, new friends and that I get closer to people that I’m not that close with yet.
Well that’s it, those are my top 10 moments of the year hahahaha. I hope that I get more such moments in the new year, I’m now looking forward to what 2007 has to offer me. More positive less negative pls ok?? Hahahah Happy new year everyone.
