As in, the latest by Mr. Pratchett. Now, I recognize that I'm often rather pissy and judgmental with a migraine, but I didn't think this was very good. Formulaic was the word that came to mind. It's about Moist von Lipwig taking over the Mint, and it reads like he (or his publisher) took a poll and stuffed in all the charming Pratchett elements: Vetinari, crazy guy wanting to be Vetinari, charmingly eccentric people, outmoded thinking about something, Igors, golems... but it just doesn't have the excitement of his good books. After Night Watch, Going Postal, and Thud I thought he was on a roll, but I guess the dud is always waiting. Attention Publisher: we like Pratchett when he does something different, not when he does something the same! That's all. Thank you very much.
