So, I realize it was, like, 2.3 seconds of film time, but what was with Snape's very concerned 'Then prove it!' ? At this point in their relationship, Snape really loathes Harry. He's helping him, he's protecting him, but the feeling of concerned encouragement that Alan Rickman puts forth in that scene just seems really off. Perhaps it's the actor's and the director's way of showing that Snape is good - and I realize that the medium of film is different, and limited in many ways - but it still bothers me. Sigh.
You know what I yearn for? I yearn for an animated version - but a long one. One that can take hours to really explore all the themes and won't truncate the plot. One where Harry's eyes are really green and Snape and Sirius actually look like they're 35. I shouldn't get so hung up on these petty details . . . sigh.
Hope all my fellow Americans have a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow - don't eat too much turkey! :D
