It’s official. Will Smith is back in black, with Columbia Pictures announcing before the weekend that “Men In Black 3” will indeed be happening. It also will be shot and released in 3-D, and, to boot, it has a release date already, too - May 25, 2012... just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

A little over a month ago, it appeared that Will Smith was choosing between two movies for his next project, with another “Men In Black” sequel being one of them. Plenty of truth seems to have sat in the rumors that he would pass on “The City That Sailed” in favor of putting on the Ray-Bans, the black suit, and probably making another music video again... and The Kidd gets the feeling that the money truck that backed up onto the lawn of Smith’s house was fairly large to get him to return. “Deals are set for Will Smith, Sonnenfeld and the producing team to return to the blockbuster franchise with the intent to begin production by this fall and the studio is in advanced negotiations with Tommy Lee Jones to reprise his role as Agent Kay. Josh Brolin is also in talks to star as a young Agent Kay.” Man, it’s really amazing to see all the work Brolin’s getting these days based off his strong performance in “No Country for Old Men,” but where were all these big time roles following his star turn in “The Goonies,” huh?
