A few weeks back the Boss had talked to me about how, due to "moral obligation" that our country must fight in wars to "help people" because it is the "right thing to do". That if a person has "the power, money or ability" they should assist others.
It's all a very nice concept, but one I don't consider valid.
But, yesterday it hit me how even the Boss, whom I consider to be a good guy, is just as horribly flawed as the rest of humanity and how his logic is faulty and hypocritical at best.
How can a person sit here and taut "morals" when he continues to consult with my former employer, which is a mob-affiliated, illegal-alien employing den of corruption. Sure, the mob stuff can't be proven, but the illegal alien portion of things is pretty well known as fact to anyone who associates with the inner workings of the company. And, the Boss is a huge advocate of putting up a fence and an alligator filled moat to keep people from crossing the border.
How can he with good conscience debate an issue on the grounds of morals on one side while his other side is accepting income from the scum of the earth who day in and out break laws in most everything their business does? Is it simply turning a blind eye to things in order to make a buck? It's his business and he can do whatever he wants. I am just saying that maybe he shouldn't be so quick to jump on moral bandwagons when he contributes to part of the problem.
This all came to me yesterday as I was asked to type up some documentation from paper to word docs for my old job. Policy and procedure stuff, website info and what not for this new website they are going to try going live with at one of the Playpen's divisions.
Of course, it didn't take me long to realize that part of what I'm being asked to do is plagiarize another company's website help info, swapping out the names and putting in theirs. This of course was dropped on my lap by Miss Managed who seemed upset by the fact that I pointed out I was being asked to plagiarize.
But, as one can see, even my own rickety moral structure didn't prevent me from doing it.
Humans.... we're all contaminated with fault. And the thing is, I don't even really care that I am plagiarizing. All I know is I feel the sweet taste of payback as it takes me an hour and a half to type up the info into electronic format, yet I intend to charge them at least 4 to 6 hours for the work.
