Oversaturated

Last night was a blur. Just like the days of old, when David the bartender at Sidetrack would over-serve us thinking it was helping somehow, the women at the bar down the road do the same. I was so drunk by the time we left there I could barely speak. According to the bill, I had 7 drinks which probably equaled at least 14 based on the amount of alcohol in them. I like having a good time, but it just ruins it when they make drinks that strong. I wish they understood we would still tip just as good with regular portioned drinks.

I was still drunk when I woke up this morning and slept until around 9:00. We ran to White Castle for food, and then immediately came back home and laid on the couch the entire day. I put on 'Deep Blue Sea' and slept through the whole thing. Attempted to watch 'The Godfather Part II' but realized almost immediately the copy I had had no subtitles. So I decided on 'The Postman', a 1990s Kevin Costner flick my dad always loved.

It's a bit cheesy at times, but overall an okay movie with a pro-America message set in a post-apocalyptic world. Since the Sparrow and I are so fond of sending old school snail mail we probably got an extra level of enjoyment out of it. It had me thinking about how I do think the idea of the United States is a great one. The issue is the fallibility of people that creeps into everything. The bureaucracy, corruption, the people more interested in power and money. The idea was always great, but I think sometimes an idea too great for mere human beings.

I am sure there's much more deep thought I could expound upon on that subject, but I am exhausted. It's almost 8:00 and we are already getting ready to go to bed. A wasted day today, but oh well. Can't say I much care after the stress of the work week.
