It was one of those 'walk in the door and immediately someone is sniffing up your butt' kinda days. One of the managers couldn’t get connected to the network and after much investigation I discovered his wall jack network port was actually linked somehow through a hub plugged into the wall of the office next door. Said hub having been turned off because the power strip it was plugged into seemed to be malfunctioning. Had the setup made sense in the first place I might have figured it out about ten minutes sooner. I only stumbled on it because I was running a cable over the wall into that office to see if I could get any kind of connection on the guy’s machine.
I’m tired today. Another night with restless sleep, which made little sense since all the windows were closed thanks to our Arctic Spring weather. My throat is still sore (no thanks to a lot of yelling last night) and I feel like I’ve got some cold lingering in my system.
Last night MJ told me that my face looked thinner, making it the second person in one day to say something about it. He was hesitant to pay me the compliment because he thought it’d immediately go to my head, but all I said was "thank you". Then I guess the jokes needed to be made in order for things to be normal in the universe so he said, ”Well, what I meant was, you don’t look as fat as usual”. Ha!
It feels great that the little (and it is very little) I’ve been doing is already showing great results. With the lack of fast food and cutting my sugar intake by about 80% all those chins I’d see forming under my jaw vanished. I had been looking last night before the show, and again this morning, and it really is true. My face is thinner. I don’t see all the extra baby chins. Awesome!
Now if only I’d get over being sick, tired and sore and get back on my regiment. I am lax in my calisthenics for the week and I am itching for a run; feeling guilty I have not done it anymore this week. It might not be Spring like this weekend, but I will get out there.
Another occurrence at the show last night... Betsy’s old roommate’s boyfriend was there, John. John is this handsome, handsome, sweet, straight man who upon meeting me the first time thought I was straight, and when he learned otherwise was always a bit timid and frightened around me. Evident last night when I finally tapped him on the shoulder and said hello (as our group had partially merged with theirs because most everyone was too short to see anything and they bonded on that point).
Not John of course, who is about 6’3” or 4”. I had asked if he heard from Betsy at all and I wanted to make sure she hadn’t gone off and gotten married in D.C. She hadn’t and that was literally that. The whole exchange took about 20 seconds and just abruptly ended. Don’t be scared baby... I don’t bite.
I thought it was going to be a late night, but the CG made it sound yesterday like he wasn’t too interested in working too long. Fine with me. I’ve got all kinds of dishes and cleaning I can be at home blowing off.
A week from tonight I’ll be seeing Keane. Another all ages show I am pretty sure. Ugh. I am hoping they are not as popular among the kids and skanks so the show can be a little more enjoyable, and visible. I’ve never been to the Aragon before. It also starts an hour earlier than this show. Doors open at 6:30. Then it’ll be off on Mystery Weekend and I’ll come back a bitter, tired old man. Oh wait.. I already am.
Hmmm.. there is a weird plastic cup in my garbage can that I don’t remember putting there. It’s bugging me. Where did it come from?
