Brief. Movies I've seen lately:

Elm Street remake

Jackie Earle Haley was great ("Fredschach"), but the rest of the film wasn't too great, and doesn't hold a candle to the original film. Shit, the remade kills that were lifted out of the original had zero fucking punch, since the original scenes were better and far dearer to a loyal horror fan, any day. And fuck, why can't we end this hokey trope of casting twenty-somethings in teenaged roles? It's just embarrassingly god-awful.

Boulevard Nights

I have a mild thing for pulp chicano flicks, with awesomely-bad films like Blood In, Blood Out, and good films like American Me. My friend Antonio has been visiting me down here, and he randomly came across this film on YouTube in multiple parts, so we watched it together.
Sort of an older title ('79), and features many actors from both of the aforementioned cult chicano flicks. It's about two brothers; the older one a former cholo trying to better himself, while the younger one gets deeper into all that ¡Órale, vato! paint-sniffin' shit. Wasn't an award winner, but great for a lazy afternoon.

Mystery Team

The dudes from the internet comedy group Derrick decided to put out a feature film, where these three idiot high school seniors still act like kid detectives and solve mysteries for dimes, while everyone in town hates them and wants nothing to do with them.
At first, I really thought that I was going to shut it off at some point, but after giving it about six or seven minutes to settle in, the movie was pretty damned funny. I watched it twice in my Pay-Per-View rental period.

Survival Of The Dead

More of the same shit that fucked up Land of the Dead and Diary of the Dead. George A. Romero is the George Lucas of the horror world, or something. Both named George, put out an amazingly rich trilogy of films only to resurface decades later to create a new, shitty trilogy... I'll always love the original trilogy, but to say that I liked these new films would be a lie.

That about does it for my recently-viewed list. Will do a real post in the near future.
