SEND ME MY STUFF!

The thing I hate most about mail-order, even in this age of "one click and it's on its way," is the wait. I can walk into a store, put my money down, and walk out with shiny goodness that I can play with immediately. There's a feel to it, a sense of completeness to the action.

Online, it's just not there. I click on my stuff (no satisfying *clunk* of product on the counter), I type in my money (none of the ritual of the counting of change, or the ceremonial signing of the credit card receipt), submit my order (no soothing "Do you want that in a bag?"), then twiddle my thumbs until the seller is good and ready to send it to me. Then, I wait some more, until the shipping service gets around to delivering it. A week later, if I'm lucky, I have the package I ordered. Or, maybe, I'm threatening the company with a charge dispute because they haven't done anything with my order yet.

I hate that wait. I hate wondering if I'm ever going to see the product I ordered. Will the company ship it? Will UPS (or whoever) deliver it to the wrong place, or lose it entirely? Will I be home when they knock on my door? I have ideas, plans, things I want to use this stuff for, and I can't do anything with them until my package filters through the system.

Just send me my stuff, please, so I can go on with my life.
