Okay, I am back again in an internet cafe and I should have time to update.First off. I am in Greece and am in my second half of the trip with my family.
Day 1 Sunday
Left Lincoln England at 8:30 am and drove to the Birmingham England airport. When there dad got a little uppity and he was worried about little things while getting to the gate. We still managed to have an hour and a half delay to Frankfurt Germany. We finally reached Frankfurt and found out we had a 5 hour delay. When we reached the gate we we found out the plane was having problems so we ended up having another hour and a half delay. As we we loaded the huge plane it was filled with every type of nationality imaginable and directions were repeated each time in three different languages. We finally arrived in Athens Greece at 2:30 am and didn't get our bags till 3:30 am. By that time our taxi drivers took us to our hotel. I got to sleep at 4:30 a.m. and woke back up, to start the trip 2 hours later. WHAT A DAY!
Day 2 Monday
Woke up and ate a really good breakfast in the hotel with the rest of the touring group. We loaded our bus and our tour director (Scottish) made the introductions. Unfortunately he said that the Acropolis (the big ruins most people think of) was on strike that day and that when we get back in Athens we would complete the trip. So we took a long drive with three food stops to a location I cannot remember the name. I do remember that we were next to some huge rock mountains and there were a number of monasteries on them. The heat was at 114 F during the day and it was a long day. We managed to cool down in the pool and shop a little that evening.
... Side-note: Culture is definitely different here:
1. Incredible heat wave 100 degrees and up
2. Millions of olive trees
3. Same Greek food all of the time
4. Friendly but peddling sales people
5. Good looking women
6. You can never drink enough water here
7. When we ride on the bus, I feel like I am on the Small World After All ride
Anyways, more to write later
