I just finished watching the Fog of War--a documentary about Robert MacNamara(with him being interviewed).
All I can really say now is wow.
I urge anyone who reads this to see it. It was a very powerful film that revealed a lot to me that I was heavily ignorant and heavily aware of at the same time. Its odd that it comes after my previous post(good timing--eh?), but it makes me more affirmed of what I care about more. A real view on this current war, without any bullshit political agenda attached to the end or throughout. I'm interested in seeing cold hard info on this war so I can make my own, honest opinion of it. That's what i'm interesting in knowing before I vote--an explanation of the war like it was written in a history book twenty years from now--so I can make my own educated choice. Because to be honest, I still don't know what's going on. I think a lot of people don't. I think a lot of people say they do, and they don't...
I gave my e-mail to the International Relations club, and i'm going to get e-mails about various events that are going to happen. The Venezualan Student Association is going to show a film called Cual Revolucion, which is an anti-(or pro?)Chavez film. The FIU Democrat's Club is also going to show Fahrenheit 9/11 on 10/25. I'm planning on seeing both. That isn't to say that i'm watching films which match my "political agenda". I'd be very interested in watching films from other perspectives--like I think The Revolution will not be televised is--I just want to gather information. International Relations is something that heavily interests me, at least from the film I saw. These things are actually things which shape our future, and I was quite moved throughout the film, to know that it had a tremendous impact on me.
I don't like to call myself political, I prefer to consider myself a semi-pacifistic person who's looking to gain some knowledge on the world he lives in, so I can gain a sense of awareness to what's going on. I'm not apathetic in the sense that I don't care about what's going on. I just have a hard-lined belief of what's a waste of time and what's bullshit. I'll leave things at that, unless I change my opinion on my overall philosophy enough to restate when I feel is necessary.
Good night! I'm more than likely going to watch the debates...
