While Julie's school is now out until next Tuesday, K can go back to high school, as they just changed the COVID protocols to bring them in line with the new CDC recommendations by reducing the quarantine time. She could have, in theory, gone back to school sooner under the old rules if she had taken a PCR test (not a rapid test) with 48 hours of symptom onset, but that would have required PCR tests to actually be available, which they are not so much.
The situation continues to have random elements, but it will be good that K can get back into class.
