4th of july fun

i went to a free conor oberst/jenny lewis concert on july 4th.  it was great!  i don't know much of oberst's music, but i fell in love with him after hearing bright eyes' "best day of my life" 5 years ago.  his voice is so unique -- i totally have a thing for singers.  i wasn't familiar with jenny lewis at all, but she was surprisingly good too!  kind of a mix b/n jewel and gwen stafani..  with a folk rock edge.  i recognized a couple of her songs, though.  i guess she's kind of famous?

the concert ended at about 6, so i went to dinner with my sister at this sushi place by times square.  the sidewalk was so crowded, we decided to walk on the bus lane and guess who stops right in front of us in his white convertible??  tracey morgan (30 rock), lollll..  i couldn't see passed his windshield, but this little black boy was tugging his mother's arm, pointing at the car saying "it's him, it's him!"  so as i walk next to the car, i look in to see who it is and tracy morgan looked back at me.  i had a blank face because i wasn't expecting it to be anyone, but as i walked away, i was like =O

why he stopped his car in a bus lane in the middle of times square, i have no idea.  my sister thinks he was doing it for attention.  anyway, i was going to go back and ask for a picture, but then all these tourists started converging in that general direction so i didn't think it was worth having to suffer through the commotion.  too bad.. i'm a big 30 rock fan!  if it was tina fey, though, i would've been all up in her business..  maybe.

then we went to see public enemies.  not exactly a chick flick, but i appreciated the romance part for us girls, hehe..  and of course, johnny depp is a beautiful specimen from god.  jeezus, that man has aged well.  i love his wacky roles, but it makes me appreciate his normal roles more.

so that was my 4th of july.  i missed the macy's day fireworks, though =(  somehow it wasn't even on our minds until after the movie.  oh well, we always have next year..  i leave you with my new favorite time killer website: mylifeisaverage.com
