Today has been awesome. I had worked so many extra hours the week before last at the conference, that last week I was able to take Friday off using comp time. Apparently, two days (Friday and Saturday) were enough to get me through my exhaustion and laziness (saying goodbye to caffeine helped, too). Today, then, I woke up and started off with some exercise, for once. Yesterday I walked, which is about as much as I ever do these days (since my horse lease ended so I rarely ride). Today I actually did a little yoga and then a little cardio and weights. Not much at all, pathetic compared to my old self, but I think that was just what I needed. Usually when I work out after a long time out of shape, I want to jump right in to where I left off, and end up overdoing it and unable to walk for days afterwards. Today not so.
And I actually didn't end up tired all day from the exercising. I got a bunch of cleaning done, which was long overdue. Now I've got a clean apartment, a charged up body, and 4 quarts of homemade ice cream in the freezer. I made my first batch last night and tonight after dinner I get to try it for the first time. Wooo hooo! I hope I like it.
This charged up day was just what I needed to prepare myself for this week. On Thursday I head to Chicago for the big yearly retreat our organization does. THat's four days of nearly constant facilitation, starting early and ending late evening. It's going to be really fun, but also really exhausting. I need to start off in a clear head space, full of vitamins and limbered up. Wish me luck!
