Danielle took a short trip up to her mom's a couple days ago and tried on a wedding dress that is twin to the one she wants (just a different color). It's a marvelous find, actually. It's almost a perfect fit, weighs less than a ton, needs little alterations (a little hemming, etc.) and is remarkably cheap for a wedding dress (a bit less than $700). We can order it from a local store, too. Not bad. I am still finding my head on what I need to do as far as groom stuff. I have a few things I am to work with, but I need to check out what is specific to my side of this whole wedding thing. I figure I'll just check out a book from work on it as a starting point.
Speaking of work, I am about to actively start looking for other employment, instead of just making opportunistic pokes at openings. I don't see much in the way of growth in my future at the bookstore. I am probably at my limit of retail ability. I could manage more and organize more and even lead more, but in this company at this location... I don't see any way to knock down the last wall between myself and upward mobility. I have a paranoid, overstressed boss who is pessimistic and morose and having personal troubles herself, and a staff that is pretty stereotypical for a retail store; annoyed, feeling put upon, and apathetic in general. The overall mood of the store is so grim and fatalistic that it's really affecting my personality, too. And so, even more so than money issues, this is why I must leave. I cannot accept work interfering with my well-being at home like this. To me, work is a means to an end. I work for financial sustenance. If I should somehow encounter a job that is also something I dream of doing, then all the better.
Please excuse any typos. I fear the batteries in my wireless keyboard are dying.
In the meantime, I game, read a little, and generally housekeep. Tim's gotten opportunities with his work. He's apparently a better salesman than he was a teacher, so now they're going to make him teach sales. Har har. They better give him a big fucking raise.
