I wish I could understand why, but one of the original programs of this kind has been vandalized so badly, they've had to seriously limit access to it:

The Unindicted Co-Conspirator has an internally geared hub on her bike, like the Hubway bikes. No learning required. Shift by turning the grip whenever you want, whether you're pedaling or not.

I think my mother used to have a bike like that.

I have a folding Italian commuter bike, and a mountain bike. The mountain bike confuses me. I used to be a good rider; but ask me to figure out what gear I should be in these days, and I have no clue.

Too long riding fixies, and then not riding at all.
