Bill prided himself on being able to pass for Muggle, and on being able to slip magical objects right under their noses, without them realizing it.
Like his boots.
Countless Muggles had seen them, hundreds had commented on them, and dozens had offered to allow him to park said boots under their bed for a night or two, if he knew what they meant.
Yet no one ever noticed that light reflected off them just a little bit differently, and his footfalls sounded just slightly off from what they would if his boots were made of leather instead of dragonhide.

Sure, it had been years since Bill had left Hogwarts and Gryffindor house, but that didn't make him any less brave now. He knew that some things just had to be said, consequences be damned. There might be repercussions, but he could deal with them. After all, he had dealt with plenty in his career as a curse breaker. Handling her should be a snap.
So Bill stood up to his full, considerable height, looked her right in the eye and said kindly, but firmly (and without a hint of mocking in his voice, he knew better), 'Hermione, you're wrong.'
