Giving Thanks

We always pack up and head to Digby on the Friday afternoon of Thanksgiving weekend. Just one of so many traditions that our family (Grammy and Grampy, us, and my Mom's sister and her family) has developed. We were slightly down without Karen and Rod this year, but the colors were so beautiful, and weather was so cooperative that we enjoyed ourselves anyway.

We spent Saturday afternoon at Keji, taking in the familiar sights, hiking, playing Pooh Sticks under the bridge at Jake's Landing, and singing Flanders and Swann songs. Nothing raises my spirits more than a carful of people bellowing the Hippopotamus Song at the top of their lungs!

Sunday after church we went to Valley View Park in Bridgetown to picnic and, again, see some colors. From the park, there's a SPECTACULAR view of the entire Annapolis Valley and the river winding through it. Then, of course, there was Thanksgiving dinner. I won't make you suffer through a description of the sumptuousness of this.

There was so much to be thankful for this weekend: great company, lots of laughter, amazing food, beautiful scenery, and Bach pedal tones. (Being an organist has made me appreciate pedal tones a whole lot more.) The best part, though, is that it all happens again at Christmastime, but with the two missing people!
