happy turkey day

I've realized that Thanksgiving is the only day out of the whole year when I actually miss America. Right now I'm at work with a bunch of Brits, with no prospects for eating turkey tonight. It can't be worse than last year though, when I spent an hour wandering about the city trying to find a turkey dish of some sort, and finally had to give up and eat at McDonald's (because it's American), by myself.

In other news, I saw one of my favorite animators live last night, Bill Plymton. He was a guest at the Krakow animation festival, and he did some live drawings, showed some of his short films, and even showed unfinished segments of his newest film, Idiots and Angels. At the end, he hand drew and signed a picture for each person in the audience (and there were at least a hundred people). I managed to get a bit on my camera phone:

As for the everyday, ever since I've started living alone again, I'm turning more and more into a Murakami character. I go home after work, feed my cat, make dinner, have a beer, and read while listening to classical music. I might as well move to Japan and start hiding in a well. But I like it. At the moment I'm catching up on my Sartre, then it's on to the next book off a never-ending list.
