A+ in Procrastination

I should have posted this about a month ago but couldn't be bothered.
I took my RSS feed down. It will only effect about half a dozen people, but I should have mentioned it anyway. Sorry about that.

The RSS feed made me feel like I was forcing people to read my ramblings, so I was only writing when I felt I had something worthwhile to say, and I didn't like that feeling. It's my blog, I want to ramble on about crochet and biscuits, without intruding on peoples spare time, but I didn't feel like I could.

Since getting rid of the RSS feed I have been amazingly prolific... for me. Okay, I might not have written anything of any interest, it's mainly been about gardening, DIY, cats and biscuits, but I don't care. I want it to be a log of my life, and that's what it is again, at last. I'm actually annoyed I didn't do it sooner, because for the past year that it's been up I've not felt like I could post, which means in effect I've lost a years worth of logs, and there have probably been more life changing events in this year than all my other 27 years put together.

This last year I've hunted for, found and bought a house. I've moved away from the place I'd lived all my adult life, to a place where I knew no-one.

I left a job I loved, looking after people who I thought of as family. I had to hand in my notice without having a job to go to, and a new mortgage to pay. Luckily I got a job, though it wasn't ideal, and I'm still there. It's still not ideal but I've aquired too much responsibility and I'm too loyal to my colleagues (or am I too stupid?) to up and leave. I know what I want to do instead, but no where seems to be hiring.

I've also left behind a fantastic set of friends, who I saw on a daily basis who I now only see every few weeks, or every 6 months depending on where they are in the world. However I've made a whole new set of friends here, who have been amazingly helpful and welcoming inviting us into their extended family in a way we never could have imagined. I've also made contact with several people who I thought I would never hear from again. Some I lost touch with because of lost addresses, some were because of bitter arguments, and one was due to her being under the Witness Protection Programme. The bad and sad bits of the past have been discussed, then left in the past. The silly and fun bits have been remembered and built upon. Hopefully we'll never lose touch again.

Unfortunately I feel like I'm on the verge of losing friends too, however this last few months have taught me that no matter how bitter things get (and you couldn't get more bitter than what has happened in the past) you can never give up on friendships. People just need time to forget and move on. Last time it took 4 years for that to happen, hopefully it will take significantly less time this time in this instance.

I expect this will be my last post on this LiveJournal, but never say never. I've kept reading the communities this past month, and I'll continue posting on them, but I'd rather meet and talk to people or email them to catch up on their lives than read about it. That seems a bit odd when I'm still keeping a journal on my website, but my blog is for my own sake. If other people are willing to bore themselves reading about the trivialities of my life, then they are perfectly welcome, possibly daft, but perfectly welcome.
