One of the worst things computers have done...

...is to wreck the handwriting skills of a whole generation, and another one, of computer users. According to an article posted on the door of a professor in the Electrical Engineering dept., most schoolteachers in the DC district don't even bother teaching handwriting anymore. They blame a lack of capable teachers, no funding, and "even if the students did write something, the teachers are usually unable to read it." (or something very close to those words). This is a vicious cycle, that it is up to the teachers to break. The teachers that remain, that is. Could this be incorporated into an English class? Like, one class a week teaches nothing but how to write cursive?

I learned cursive from my grandfather, and everyone who reads my handwriting comments on how nice it is. Handwriting is a dying art, and one that says a lot about the writer.
