Character Information ;
Name: The Arab Republic of Egypt (nation name), Gupta Muhammad Hassan (human name)
Name of Canon: Axis Powers Hetalia
Canon/AU/Other Game CR: Other game CR from hetaliafia
Reference: Assorted profiles, from oldest to newest. Hetalia Wiki. His single anime appearance.
Canon Point: Modern day (late October, 2010), after his death in Mafia

Setting:

The world of Hetalia is pretty much the same as ours, save for the anthropomorphic countries

BLAH BLAH BLAH MODERN EGYPT. BLAH BLAH BLAH WHAT AM NATIONS. BLAH BLAH BLAH ISLAND OF MANY BRUTAL DEATHS.

Personality: At first glance, Gupta can be described with one word: mysterious. He's a quiet one, for sure. In his only, brief appearance in the Hetalia anime, Gupta doesn't utter a single word. It seems like the only time you can see him talking is if he's trying to do business, like when he tried to sell a pot to France in one of the comic strips. Ask him to smile on the spot, and he won't be able to do it -- not without that smile looking awkwardly forced, at least. Since he speaks so little and usually wears a straight face, it's difficult to understand how Gupta really feels or what he's thinking. Does his silence convey boredom? Is he shy? Does that intense stare mean he's judging your every move?

Spend a bit more time with Gupta, and you'll see that he's an overall good guy. Behind the reserved exterior is a friendly attitude, honest intentions, and a person you can trust. His tendency of staring when you talk? Don't worry about it, he's merely paying attention to what you're saying. More of a listener than a speaker, that eye contact lets others know they have his undivided attention. Those that stick around long enough will discover that, yes, Gupta can speak, and he does so in a very subdued, gentle tone. Most of the time he uses a combination of body language, emotive noises, and short phrases when absolutely necessary.

Gupta is also very family-oriented, a trait inherited from his mother. (In Ancient Egypt, all children, male or female, were highly valued and considered a blessing from the gods.) For him, close bonds are more important than material values. Another thing important to him is the rich culture and longstanding history of his nation. Egypt has been conquered by various other empires before (i.e. Rome, the Ottoman Empire), but it's always been able to preserve its unique identity and way of life despite this.

Himaruya has indicated that one of Gupta's less appealing traits is his stubbornness. This can most likely be seen in the way he does business, where haggling and negotiations will always happen. As one of the older nations, Gupta is also stubborn when it comes to cultural traditions and beliefs; that is part of the reason why he's been able to hold onto them for so many ages.

Tying into his stubborn side, Gupta isn't one for quick or unnecessary change. Other nations have taken to modernization at an alarming rate, for example, but Gupta is perfectly content with the way things currently are. The friendly guy he is, he will listen to another person's ideals or issues with various topics, but good luck trying to get him to change his own. Give him some time and come back to him. He'll still be here.

Abilities and Weaknesses:
+/- Really fucked up and convoluted aging process. Goes through periods of aging when the country advances in things like population growth, military strength, sovereignty, etc. He's centuries old, yet doesn't look a day over 30. Pseudo-immortal, until the country of Egypt crumbles like civilizations of the past or gets absolutely crushed under the boot of another nation.

+/- Accumulated a lot of knowledge over the years, both book smarts and street smarts. Unfortunately, most of it falls under a "use it or lose it" sort of concept. He used to know how to tend farmland along the Nile, but fuck if he's ever practiced in the past century or two. How to navigate Cairo's city streets and bustling marketplaces? Knows those like the back of his own hand.

+ Very, very resilient. Can be physically harmed by normal humans, but those kinds of wounds won't kill him and heal at a faster rate. Worst-case scenario, Egypt goes into a temporary coma while recovering. (If this is too iffy in Sing, still resilient, but fatal wounds will be fatal.)

- Slower healing process when physically harmed by nation types. They can do more lasting damage to him, those kinds of wounds taking double the amount of time to recover, if not longer.

- Health tied to his country's economy. Economic crashes give him a nasty flu, long-term depressions put him in really exhaustive comas, things like that. At this point in time Egypt's stable enough economy-wise, but right now he can get sick like any normal person, too.

Inventory: An unusable cell phone, one of Japan's models. An old qibla compass. Looks like a green pocket watch on a chain when not in use. It had some weird power on King's Court Island, but whatever it was Egypt is unaware of it, and the power is now inactive on Sacrosanct.

Appearance: 5'8"/173cm tall (estimate). Build somewhere between lean and athletic; smaller/thinner than Greece and Turkey. Tanned skin, green eyes, and short, black hair that's usually hidden under a white keffiyeh (head scarf). His uniform resembles those worn by the Egyptian army during World War II. It's light brown in color and consists of a short-sleeved shirt, dark brown belt, trousers (with white bandages wrapped tightly around his lower legs), and dark brown boots.

Hypatia fixed up some of the damage done to him on King's Court Island. The stab wound from a kitchen knife on his right wrist is healed, now a fresh scar. The burns from the chandelier wax are almost all gone. In exchange for that, the rope marks from being hung/strangled were untreated, very visible where Egypt can't cover them up.

Age: True age debatable/unknown as there are no canon specifics for when Ancient Egypt (Gupta's mother) "died" and when this Egypt was "born". He should be at least over a thousand years old. His age in appearance is unknown as well, but I'm aiming for around mid/late twenties. 27 in physical appearance; in comparison to castmates, he's the same age as Greece, older than a lot of others (i.e. America, Canada), and most likely younger than Turkey.

OC/AU Justification ;
If AU, How is Your Version Different From Canon, and How Will That Come Across?
- Altered CR carried over from Mafia. Heightened suspicion towards nations present on the island that weren't proven innocent.
- Doesn't know if he's "death-proof" now that he's off the island, or if his mortal state is permanent.
- Trauma from, you know, witnessing nations drop like flies and not stopping it before the demons went for him next.

If OC, Did You Run Your Character Through a Mary-Sue Litmus Test? Not an OC, but I ran him through the first test anyway.
And What Did You Score? 16
