I could hear the pain in your voice, the conflict in your eyes. I wanted to smooth out your knitted brows, wanted to ease out the tightening on your lips.
I don't think I can. I'm not as good as you, you know that.
Yes, you are. Maybe even better. Can't you see that? I may always take the stage like I'm the best there is but I know I'm not.
What if the fans don't like it?

As I stood in the back, watching you take your place in front, I felt myself smile despite the pain. I knew the medication is slowly wearing off, the slight throbbing in my lower back is starting to regain its rhythm, almost as if in time with the music.
But seeing own the stage, seeing you move, seeing you just dance your heart out, I think I can bear this pain just a little while longer.
And for that, I’m grateful.
