but what does it all MEAN???
One of the things I love most about Supernatural is that it hasn't been afraid to give us an unhappy ending. It kills its characters, it depresses the hell out of us. I expect that, and I love it. But it seems like a lot of people are worried about like, "what's the meaning of all of it if they're just going to kill off everyone but Sam & Dean, and they're going to be alone?" Well, maybe that's the point. Maybe there is no meaning. Maybe they just end up alone.
Dean said it best himself, in 4.02: "Bad crap happens to good people. That's how it is. There's no rhyme or reason. Just random, horrible, evil."
I think, personally, it would be totally awesome if that's all we get out of this. Not, "it was all worth it, they saved the world and found happiness!" I don't think that's how life or people work. All I know is I'm not in Supernatural for the happy ending.
FYI: This is not in reference to anyone I've talked to on my flist or anything, just a few metas I've read, mostly on tumblr.
It's entirely possible that I'm totally off on this, too much in Dean's headspace or too centered in my own philosophical opinions to look at this objectively based on show.
