Guilty until proven innocent?

Is anybody else feeling a bit uncomfortable about this case of the nursery worker, Vanessa George, who has been accused of sexual assalt and child porn? Obviously if she is guilty then that is comletely dispicable and a vile thing she has done. But as yet this is still an "if", she has not been convicted of anything. This has not stopped her name and picture being splashed across every newspaper front page and on the television news. I'm sure in other sensitive cases like this the identity of the alledged is kept private until they are convicted. Whereas this woman would have probably been killed by the crowd yesterday if they had been able to get to her, without ever having stood trial.

What if it is a mistake, or she has been set up? And I can't help wondering if the situation has been make worse by the fact that she is a woman. I can't think of any cases in the past where the alledged purpetrator was male (although with my poor memory that doesn't say too much) and they were all over the papers. Aren't we supposed to have a law in this land that says you are to be treated as innocent until proven guilty?
