Well today I went for a run (third time in about a week, what is wrong with me?) and some random guy in a silver Holden Astra (or similar) honks the horn and then gives me the finger. He didn't seem like a bogan, from the glimpse of his arm that I got it seemed that he was wearing a business shirt. Which puzzled me greatly. I've had friends and family members honk me (don't do it, you usually go past too quick for me to tell if it's you or a random creepy guy) but I definitely didn't recognise him. And giving me the finger? I really don't know what I could have done to offend someone I don't recognise!
I think maybe he was offended by my 'Eternity' tshirt- written in the font that Arthur Stace used when he wrote this word all over Sydney to remind people to think about their eternal destiny. So if you are so threatened and offended by one small word, I feel sorry for you. And I also feel unapologetic. Stace felt that this was his mission and I know that he has positively influenced many people with his message. In fact he was even honoured on the Sydney harbour bridge at the 2000 Olympics with this word. If I am a part of his legacy then I am proud.
I guess the only other option would be that the guy hates running with a passion (or at least hates my style of running?). In that case I also feel sorry for you. I'm really getting back into it, ran almost my full normal circuit after about 7-8 months off (d/t sickness) so you got to be happy with that. Feeling better each run, more natural and less like dragging a carcass around (that also has tight ITBs). So maybe I'll even get the stage of enjoying running again!
