Vacation!

We're back!
Virginia Beach was as nice as we left it 2 years ago. Although one of our favorite restaurants closed and a movie theatre that we used to walk to from our hotel closed too. It was very very sad. But we managed to get down to the mall about... 4 times to see movies that were out. It was nice to have the time to go to the movies, because we always miss films we want to see when they come out around here. We saw The Happening, Prince Caspian, Get Smart, and Wall-E (which is THE cutest movie in the history of ever.)

We spent a few days actually on the beach, where I got sunburned. I did actually spend sometime in the water, which is quite an accomplishment for me if you know me well. Jamie and I got some body boards and did some wave riding. Though the last day we went to the beach, it was about to thunderstorm and the waves were ferocious. I got hit pretty hard by one and while I attempted to get out of the water, got my ass handed to me by about 3 more waves. Never have I seen waves as big as they were on that day!

We did spend a lot of time in our room playing video games though. And Jamie read a buttload of comics. I learned to eat crab legs. And we watched countless hours of the History Channel.

We also happened to be in town when Hilby arrived for his Beachstreet gig. We hadn't seen him since Renfaire last year, and it was a brief visit due to circumstances beyond our control. But catching up with him at the beach was great. His girlfriend and their kids were in town too, and we spent some time over at their house hanging out. His girlfriend is such a nice woman, we got along really well. His 13 year old, Aviv, and I geeked out on some Iron Chef America between ping-pong games.  Jamie and I were really happy to have had such a nice reunion. Sarah and the kids will be at Renfaire this year as well, and we made plans to hang out while they are in the area. That will be a great time.

As usual we got our Old Time Photos done. I realized that we are slowly running out of things to do in those photos. At least, I am. I've been a cowgirl, a gangster, a beach babe, a saloon girl, a hick farm girl, a pirate, a Southern Belle, an Indian maiden, and I feel like there was one more - I can't remember (it was taken with an ex, so does it even matter?) I am very serious about my Old Time Photo traditions though, and this year we saw so many pictures with dressed up dogs and babies - I can't wait to have my own babies to dress up.

We went to the Aquarium, played with the sting rays and otters, saw some ducks that we wanted to steal, and drank our combined weight in Blue Raspberry Icee (in plastic-like cups made of corn, no less.)

It's good to be home though. A much needed vacation, but I missed my puppy dearly. She stayed with Dan and Jenn (and Penny!) while we were away, and she had a wonderful time with them. Now home, I'm having some trouble getting back into the swing of things, and movie stuff is starting very soon. So hopefully I can just get caught up and shake this post-vacation lethargy.
