every year christmas is probably the most depressing time of year for me. For the last...I think 3 christmas's I've had, they havent really felt like christmas much at all...I even follow all the guidlelines unlike what I usually do...
-Buy everyone presents
-attend all the designated parties
-send out the cards
-make the phone calls to the relatives I never talk to
I do all of it to no avail...when I was younger id give people presents, theyd light up, spread their joy with others, and usually since I bought at least one person some form of projectile weapon, I'd end up getting shot with it (I still havent learned my lesson about that either, especially since Ive already given someone an airsoft gun) but the last couple of years, the gift giving has become nothing but superficial garbage in which no one appreciates the gifts unless their practical or a gift card to some place the person frequents. I think im coming to realize why people say christmas if for the young at heart, because kids learn to enjoy presents, share the joy, and have a good time. Adults when gift giving think too much, of when they can use it practically or where down the line will it come in handy...its the thought that counts damn it! if the person knows your into comics and buys you some, thats good, if they buy you a sunoco gas card, then their assholes and lost the spirit of the season, its no for things we need, its for things they think we deserve, and if the person is too lazy to even attempt to guess what you would like, than that person can fuck off and keep their money instead of trying to stay in good favor with someone....
Happiest season indeed...proving once and for all that the holiday spirit is in fact dead, choked to death by massive consumerism and superficiality that is known as our current society...
